Greeting Brothers, At our annual meeting on December 11th the following brothers were elected to serve the lodge for 2026: WM. Bob Schultz SW. Derek Frank JW. Doug Wirt Treasurer Kerry Sackreiter Secretary Adam Pierce We currently have 44 members of Rising Sun Lodge. This past year we lost the following brothers: Albert Conrad Posz and Charles (Chuck) VonWald. We also were notified about the deaths of Brothers William Mattison and David DeBoer who passed last year. We currently have approximately $7,000 in our checking account, $36,000 in the Lybarger Building account and $49,000 in certificates of deposit. We have not paid our per capita to grand lodge yet, but that usually washes out when we receive our check for the life members. The biggest point of discussion at the annual meeting was our lodge building. The front is in serious need of work. It is starting to pull away from the rest of the building, and the brick work is in desperate need of repair. We have reached out to Puetz construction in St. Charles and while they have yet to give us a formal estimate, they are guessing anywhere between $50,000 to north of $100,000 depending on if we would like to put a band-aid on it or fix it completely. With this in mind, the brothers present at the annual meeting voted to begin exploring the sale of the Lybarger Building to the owners of the other half of the building or other parties and do all of the necessary work to rehab the lodge building. We would ensure that the front is fully repaired and discuss other repairs that are needed to the building. The Master Wardens and officers of Rising Sun Lodge would still like your continued input into this process. Our next meeting is on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 11:00 am. This is the joint potluck with Sunshine Chapter #98 Order of the Eastern Star. Following the lodge meeting we will have a potluck lunch and we will discuss with the members of Sunshine Chapter their goals for the repairs, future use of the building and items they may like to see addressed during this process. At this point we are not soliciting donations towards repairs, just your attendance and input. If you are unable to attend the meeting but would like to respond to what has been discussed so far, please send me letter or email letting us know your thoughts and we will make sure they are brought up in the discussion. We hope to see you on January 10th at 11:00 am and please bring a dish to pass. Fraternally, Adam Pierce Secretary Rising Sun Lodge No. 49 |

1/26/2026 Greeting Brothers, I would like to begin by introducing myself. I am Adam Pierce. I was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason in November of 1999. I serve as Master of Evergreen Lodge for 6 years among other offices and was Master of Rising Sun Lodge the past two years. I am also active in Sunshine and Royal Chapters of the Eastern Star and was also active in DeMolay until my work schedule became too busy. This December I was elected to serve as secretary for the lodge and I hope to do well at this job and make it easy to communicate with your lodge officers. I will have my address and other contact info at the bottom of this email. Please save it so you can reach out to me if needed. A few events coming up for your calendars. February 15th will be our annual sweetheart’s dinner at the Golden Harvest in Utica. We will eat at 1:00 pm and will order off the menu. Please reach out to me or W. M. Bob Schultz by Tuesday February 11th so we can let the restaurant know how many tables to hold. We are looking at have a speaker come down from the cities to an education night that would be open to the public. We have not set a date for that yet, but we are looking at doing it yet this spring. Also pencil in July 10-14 for Bingo at the Winona County Fair. The past two years we have raised money for our scholarships, Fire suppression tools, and many more causes in the area. This is a great way to show the community we are still an active part of it. The Grand Lodge would also like us to do more with the Grandview System which is the online portal the Grand Lodge uses to manage membership, publish information and so much more. If you have not set up your profile yet, please join us for one of our upcoming meetings so I can assist you in signing up and showing you the masonic working tools that are available to you. I will be posting the minutes on there to review prior to meetings and other information. If you have not joined us for a meeting, please stop up and join us for a meeting. You do not have to remember all of the signs, we will help you out and welcome you all the same. If you have any questions about the lodge or any of our upcoming events please let me know.
