Welcome to Milford Lodge No. 165, Free & Accepted Masons

Founded in 1865, Milford Lodge No. 165 has been a proud part of Michigan’s Masonic tradition for over 150 years. We are a Blue Lodge, dedicated to the foundational teachings of Freemasonry — friendship, morality, and brotherly love — and to serving the Milford community we call home.

Our members come from all walks of life, united by a shared commitment to personal growth, fellowship, and charitable work. From supporting local scholarships and literacy programs to engaging in community service projects, we strive to make a lasting, positive difference.

Whether you are a Brother visiting from afar, a neighbor curious about who we are, or someone considering membership, we welcome you to come have a meal with us, explore our history, our values, and our ongoing efforts to build a better community — one act of kindness at a time.

“Making good men in Milford better since 1865.”

Memorial visitation on Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 12 to 2 pm at Lynch Funeral Home in Milford.

A Masonic funeral has been requested at 2 pm followed by a time of sharing.

Milford Royal Arch Chapter Forthcoming
Any Master Masons interested in exploring Royal Arch Masonry,
contact Chris Austin at 517-672-9466, or the Milford Lodge.

Royal Arch Masons are members of the Capitular Masonry part of the York Rite
system of Freemasonry, who meet in a Chapter to complete the story begun in
the Master Mason degree. The purpose of the order is to further Masonic education
and provides additional degrees: Mark Master Mason, Past Master,
Most Excellent Master,
and Royal Arch Mason. It is considered a
significant and complementary part of the overall Masonic journey.

Degrees and purpose

  • To complete the Master's Degree: The degrees of the Royal Arch are
presented as a continuation and completion of the Master Mason degree,
revealing lost knowledge and explaining cryptic passages from the earlier degrees.
  • Historical and moral significance: The rituals are based on the story of the
rebuilding of the Second Temple and are designed to teach profound moral lessons.

How to join

  • You must be a Master Mason in good standing.
  • You must have a belief in a Supreme Being.
  • You must be a man and not have a criminal past.

Other aspects

  • Meeting place: Members meet in a Chapter, which is a type of Masonic body.
  • Charitable work: Like other Masonic bodies, the Royal Arch Masonry is involved
in charitable work and community service.
  • Terminology: Members are sometimes called "Companions" instead of "Brothers"
to distinguish them from Craft Lodge members, and the aprons and jewels are
typically scarlet instead of the blue of a "Blue Lodge" Mason.
